Greetings!!! My name is Carisha Clinton Williams, the founder of Masterpiece Counseling and Health Services. I was raised by both my parents Carl and Shirley Clinton, of Greenville, MS. As the youngest of 6 children, I graduated from Greenville High School in 2001 and was the first in my family to attend college. I attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS and received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology. Next, I furthered my education by attending Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There I received my Master of Science Degree with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling. My early plan to become a therapist was largely driven by my passion for helping people to see and reach their true potential. That genuine concern for others has led me to where I am today. I began my career working indifferent community mental health facilities across the state of MS. It was during that time, from 2008-2016, that the experience of working with so many who were less fortunate and uninsured, built the foundation for my calling. After this, I accepted a position with The Department of Defense as a Military Family and Life Counselor. There, I was able to be of service to my country, by working with military families, which was humbling, and something I had only dreamed of. It also inspired me to get my certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) psychotherapy, which is trauma focused therapy. Meeting so many good people from all over the world, also helped prepare me for the next step in my journey, which was private practice. I have been working in private practice for the last 5 years. I became a Certified EMDR psychotherapist about 2 years ago. About two 2 years ago I decided it was time to start the practice of my dreams. I wanted to help in ways I knew others were not. I wanted to bring mental health awareness to our communities and fight for the removal of stigmatized mental health. I have been on this journey for almost 2 years now. I am the proud owner of Masterpiece Counseling and Health Services of Olive Branch, MS. The practice has already begun to expand with other therapists working for the same vision. We have made big strides to have community involvement in mental health care. We are continuing to grow to bridge the gap between mental and physical healthcare. We hosted the first Mental Health Awareness Festival in our county. We are breaking the stigma on mental health in our community. The business motto: “You are a masterpiece; uniquely different, beautifully broken, yet wonderfully made” – Carisha Williams, LPC-S.
On a personal note, I am married to Robert Williams. We will be married for 13 years in July of 2023. He is the manager of Sleep Number Cordova, TN. He has been with the company for the past 10 years and one of their top sellers. We have two wonderful boys Jonathan 17 and Carsen 7. Jonathan plays basketball for both Center High School and an AAU Team Clutch. He is a straight A student and loves hard. Carsen wants to be a Ninja Warrior Junior!! He is in gymnastics, tumbling, and taekwondo. He is smart, funny and very lovable. I also have a Goddaughter who wants to follow in my footsteps and become a therapist. Her name is Zakeira Perkins. She is striving for excellence as she pursues her Bachelors Degree in psychology from Jackson State University. My family means the world to me. I do all that I do for them. I wanted to create a legacy of being able to have what you work for and allow them to see it first hand. They are taught that nothing comes to you, but they must go after what they want. My husband and I teach them that work hard pays off! Lastly, I would like to acknowledge my mother, Shirley Clinton, she was very instrumental in allowing me to work hard, long nights to establish a business of my own. Without her it would not have been possible. She has been there to help with the kids to ensure they had what they needed and didn’t miss a practice while mommy and daddy worked many late nights. I acknowledge God for being the head of my life and believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!!!
